Nymphaea micrantha

A beautiful water lily native to the tropics of West Africa. The leaves are oval or round, about 8-12 cm long, with a cluster of bulbils on the top of the leaf stalk. Flowers are purple/blue and approximately 10cm in diameter. Micrantha comes from the Greek ‘mikros’ and means ‘small’. The plant usually grows to a height of 20–80 cm. Suitable for both pond and aquarium, however it needs light and a longer period of warm temperatures to make flowers. Not winterhardy.
